Overview

The BubblyJs Pre-Rolls Cannabis Competition is designed to celebrate the craftsmanship and quality of cannabis pre-rolls. Open to both professionals and enthusiasts, the competition aims to find the best pre-rolls across various categories, offering participants a chance to win prizes and gain recognition.


Competition Rules

1. General Rules

Eligibility:

  • Participants must be at least 21 years old.
  • Compliance with all local, state, and federal cannabis regulations is mandatory.

Entry Limit:

  • Each participant is limited to a maximum of 3 entries per category.

Categories:

  • Best Indica Pre-Roll
  • Best Sativa Pre-Roll
  • Best Hybrid Pre-Roll
  • Best CBD Pre-Roll
  • Best Infused Pre-Roll (Optional category for pre-rolls infused with concentrates or other additives)

Entry Fee:

  • Professional Entry: $200 per submission.
  • Enthusiast Entry: $125 per submission.

Submission Deadline:

  • All entries must be submitted 14 days before the judging.

2. Submission Requirements

Quantity:

  • Each entry must include a minimum of 3-6 pre-rolls per submission or approximately 3.5 grams.

Weight:

  • Each pre-roll must contain a minimum of 0.6 grams of cannabis.

Labeling:

  • Entries must be labeled with the original store barcode and any relevant strain information.

Packaging:

  • Products must be submitted in original, sealed packaging.

Documentation:

  • The original receipt from the licensed store must accompany each submission.

Tier Selection:

  • The submitter must check a box indicating the tier they are competing in:
    • Gents (0.6g Pre-Rolls): Focused on the smaller, more refined pre-rolls.
    • Gains (1g Pre-Rolls): For larger, more substantial pre-rolls.

Entry Category:

  • The submitter must also check a box indicating whether they are entering as a Professional or Enthusiast.

3. Judging Criteria

Appearance:

  • Judging the visual appeal of the pre-rolls, including uniformity, craftsmanship, and packaging.

Aroma:

  • Assessing the scent of the pre-roll before and after lighting, considering intensity, complexity, and overall appeal.

Flavor:

  • Evaluating the taste during consumption, focusing on richness, smoothness, and overall enjoyment.

Burn Quality:

  • Assessing the evenness of burn, ash color, and duration.

Terpenes:

  • Evaluating based on the test result provided, considering the profile and complexity of terpenes present.

Cooled Smoke:

  • Considering the smoothness and temperature of the smoke.

Pure Flavor:

  • Assessing the purity and authenticity of the flavor profile.

Packaging:

  • A separate class focusing on the design, functionality, and overall appeal of the packaging.

4. Judging Process

Blind Judging:

  • Judges will evaluate entries without knowledge of their identity, using unique identifiers.

Scorecards:

  • Each judge will use a standardized scorecard to rate entries in each criterion on a scale of 1-10.

Averaging Scores:

  • Final scores will be calculated by averaging the scores from all judges.

Tie-Breaking:

  • In the event of a tie, a designated head judge or panel will re-evaluate the tied entries.

5. Awards and Prizes

Prizes:

  • 1st Place: Reimbursement for submission + $250, trophy, and feature on BubblyJs website and social media.
  • 2nd Place: Reimbursement for submission + $100, trophy, and feature on BubblyJs website and social media.
  • 3rd Place: Reimbursement for submission, medal, and feature on BubblyJs website and social media.

Packaging Award:

  • Entries with the best packaging design will receive a "Nice Eye" ribbon. If multiple submissions have the same winning packaging, each participant will receive a ribbon.

Announcement:

  • Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony and on the competition’s official website and social media channels.

6. Disqualification

Non-Compliance:

  • Entries that do not meet submission requirements or contain prohibited substances will be disqualified.

Tampering:

  • Evidence of tampering or attempts to influence the judging process will result in disqualification.

Conduct:

  • Participants must adhere to a code of conduct, maintaining professionalism and respect for other competitors and judges.

7. Legal Compliance

Regulations:

  • The competition must adhere to all local, state, and federal cannabis laws.

Licensing:

  • All participants must provide proof of receipt from a licensed retailer in Washington State.

Safety:

  • Organizers must ensure the event is conducted safely, with measures in place for health and security.

Additional Considerations

Tiers:

  • Gents (0.6g Pre-Rolls): Focused on the smaller, more refined pre-rolls.
  • Gains (1g Pre-Rolls): For larger, more substantial pre-rolls.
